Here are the ongoing projects of the Aanandit Charity Centre (ACC) in Nepal that are supported by AAN.

Children’s Home
Aanandit Charity Centre runs a Children’s Home for orphans and children whose parents are not able to support them. For logistical reasons only girls are able to live in the home.
The girls in the home range in age from 4 to 17. There are two live-in house parents (husband and wife), and the girls are provided with shelter, food, clothing and a good education. ACC strives to make life in the home as “normal” as possible, giving the girls outings and communal birthday parties several times a year.
Some of the girls are currently unsponsored, which means ACC is supporting them out of general funds. There is room for more girls if sponsorship funds permit. The cost for sponsoring a girl in the home is $100/month. Partial sponsorships are also welcomed, as are one-time financial supports.

Girl’s Hostel
Once a girl reaches the age of 18, by Nepalese law she is no longer able to live in a children’s home. So ACC has established a hostel for girls aged 18-22 to help them get further education and training, and get ready for life. For girls on their own, this age is very dangerous in Nepal due to the prevalent sex trade and the hostel helps to shelter them from these dangers.
ACC was originally renting a building for the hostel, but now they have built their own building on land beside the Children’s Home and there is room for 8 girls at a time in the hostel. Like the Children’s Home there are live-in house parents.
The cost for sponsoring a girl in the hostel is $100/month. Partial sponsorships are also welcomed, as are one-time financial supports. ACC is also still paying off the debt on the hostel building and needs financial support for this.

Education Sponsorship
Children in Nepal have to pay to go to school, and many families can’t afford to educate their children. This project aims to sponsor children who are living with their parents but would not otherwise be able to go to school.
The cost for sponsoring a child for their education is $25/month. One-time financial supports are also welcomed.

Poverty Relief and Disaster Relief
ACC has a number of programs to reach out to the community in Nepal to relieve poverty. They also provide support when natural disasters happen, and AAN is always there to help them in these circumstances, such as:
– Building new houses, temporary shelter and food after the devastating earthquakes of 2015
– Providing food and shelter after the heavy monsoons of 2016 and 2017 caused many people to lose houses, crops and their livelihoods
Most recently, after the monsoons of 2020 caused landslides that wiped out whole villages, AAN has been raising funds to allow ACC to buy livestock (goats and chickens) for farmers who had lost everything.
