In April 2015 two of our members were volunteering at the Aanandit Charity Centre (ACC) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The day after they arrived, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit the region and they witnessed the disastrous results first hand. After being airlifted out by the Canadian military, they returned to Canada and formed Aanandit Aid to Nepal (AAN) as a registered Canadian charity to help raise money for the relief effort.
We still respond to disasters when they happen, such as the monsoon landslides of 2020 which wiped out entire mountain villages, but now our focus has changed to help ACC with their various ongoing projects to help the poor of Nepal, especially the children.
AAN is completely run by volunteers, so you can be sure that all of your donations go directly to ACC in Nepal and from there directly to where it is needed, with a minimum of administrative overhead.
What’s in a name?
“Aanandit” is a Nepali word meaning “Rejoicing, glad or joyful”
